Yuletide Ball

ADI Students and Staff started the new year together at the Yuletide Ball, which occured from December 31st - January 4th in Washington, D.C. Many of our students joined the owners and staff of ADI for the New Years Eve Gala in the main ballroom, enjoying wonderful food, wine, and dancing into the first hours of 2009. Over the following days the ADI community enjoyed much success. 

ADI was proud to contribute to an important memorial event on January 3rd. ADI's Artistic Director, Mr. Frank Regan, directed the Alliance Dancers in a performance of his Waltz, "Mull of Kintyre" as part of the memorial. Here is an excerpt from the group performing "Mull of Kintyre"at the Campagna Center's Celtic Concert in early December:

DVIDA Certification Workshop.

Alliance Dance Institute teachers will be attending the DVIDA certification training camp in Richmond, VA.  In the dance industry, professional certificates are granted to dancers who submit themselves to a standardized exam from one of the accredited organizations, and who pass that exam satisfactorily.  We here at ADI would like to highlight our commitment to knowledge and the pursuit of teaching with this workshop.  It is the first step on the way to obtaining our certifications in the DVIDA syllabus, as well as the United States Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

Fall Studio Showcase 2009

Alliance Dance Institute is proud to present its seasonal showcase.  Showcases are an integral part of our ballroom students' development.  For some, it is an opportunity to show their stuff, and for others it is a crucial step toward a mastery of competitive dancing.  This evening looks to be the most exciting yet, and spectators are encouraged to partake in the general dancing following the show!  Our last showcase had everyone up on their feet until the night was over.  Reynaldo was even caught doing some Michael Jackson choreography.  As always, there will be plenty of hor d'ouvres and beverages.  Ask your teacher how to get involved!

Halloween 2009!!

This year ADI will be participating in the annual Halloween festivities located in Old Town Alexandria.  Each year thousands of people come to Lee Street between the 100 - 500 blocks which are sectioned off for trick-or-treaters.  This year the fun will begin around 5:30 for the little trick-or-treaters and will continue until around 9PM.  Our goal is to add to the cheer by bringing dancing to the streets!  Join us for a fun party full of dancing, costumes, and holiday treats.

If you are still craving more dancing after our performances, you can make your way over to the Torpedo Factory for their "Ofrenda - Art for the Dead" event.  Attendees are encouraged to dress in the style of Day of the Dead or in Halloween costumes.  The celebration will feature live music, a masked ball, and art exhibitions together under one roof!  The Hootenanny Orchestra will provide Swing music from 8:15 - 9:00 PM, then the American Sinners and Demivolt rock bands will play Rock music from 9:15 - 12 midnight to close the evening.  Hope to see you there!
