The Alexandria Ballet
Founder and Artistic Director – Virginia Britton
The Alexandria Ballet, established in 1991, is both a school and a performing company.
The shortened version of The Nutcracker is the company’s most popular work. The company has two other children’s ballets in its repertoire: The Easter Bunny’s Apprentice and El Chico y El Toro.
Virginia Britton combines a pre-ballet program with creative movement for ages 3-8. Classical Ballet begins at age 9 in the school with students taking classes twice a week as soon as they begin the classical training.
The school has trained many professional dancers and teachers. Its main goal is correct and therapeutic alignment, and it is dedicated to passing on the artistic tradition of the Vaganova style and Royal Ballet innovations.
